Additional Physical Format: Online version: Olaniyan, C.I.O. Introduction to West African animal ecology. London, Ibadan, Heinemann Educational,   During its 82 year history, Journal of Animal Ecology has published many key papers on the ecology of animals in Africa. In this VI, we highlight a number of papers from the region, many of which take advantage of these unique protected areas, including the Kruger National Park in South Africa; the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya; and the Serengeti, Gombe Stream and Tarangire . The semiarid plains and plateaus that cover much of the region contain animals commonly associated with the East African plains—e.g., antelopes, gazelles, zebras, elephants, and the big cats. However, different animals are found in the coastal woodlands of South Africa and in the desert regions to the north and northwest. About this book.
